In an alternate Los Angeles where superheroes and villains are part of everyday life, former hero Mecha Man Robert Robertson III loses everything after a failed attempt to capture his father's killer, Shroud. Forced into retirement, he takes a desk job at the Superhero Dispatch Network (SDN), where he manages a dysfunctional team of reformed supervillains known as the Z-Team. As Robert helps them become real heroes, he uncovers a conspiracy surrounding Shroud, the mysterious Astral Pulse, and the truth behind his father's death. Along the way, the player's choices shape friendships, romances, betrayals, and the fate of the entire team before everything culminates in a final showdown with Shroud.
