The show follows Elijah Vance, civil engineer for Union Pacific as he engages in increasingly corrupt work to topple Central, Mei Lin, a Chinese immigrant worker for Central who must fight through racism and exploitation from Central Pacific CEO Chester W. Chaplin, and Thomas Durant, cunning VP of Union Pacific who plots to take over the company and build a whole city connected all by train.
