Homunculus follows Susumu Nakoshi, a mysterious middle-aged man living out of his car between the worlds of wealth and homelessness. After undergoing an experimental trepanation procedure, he gains the ability to see people's inner traumas and distorted self-images as grotesque manifestations called "homunculi." As Nakoshi investigates others, he is gradually forced to confront his own fractured identity, buried memories, and deepest fears. Blending psychological horror, mystery, philosophy, and character drama, Homunculus explores the hidden truths people construct to survive and the consequences of tearing those illusions apart.
