The series is set in Washington, D.C., and centers around a fictionalised version of St. Albans School and the U.S. government following the disappearance of a St Albans school trip in Annapolis. Season 1 and Season 2 are primarily set in St Albans School and focus around the disappearance. The middle seasons take place concurrently, with the cast divided between St. Albans (Season 3) and the White House (Season 4) after martial law is declared in Washington. Season 5 and Season 6 are both set after graduation and explore the students integrating into the corrupt systems of Washington.
