Eldror is Hilfiger's twin, the son Mosne took when Gamarus died in the cottage in the green of fields. He grows up on her stories of a home in Mondanello he has never seen, "yearning for a nostalgia he never had," and watches her die. He enters the capital as a gladiator in Hilfiger's coronation games, wins by running and hiding, and names himself Tresmigistus before the crowd. Heslin buys him as a slave, then sends him to the Prymidians, where he fights the dragon and is declared the one destined to fell the Faiyator. He is raised by Harkis, a White Cloak who loved Mosne and came to resent the boy he was made to raise, and who confesses it on his deathbed in Season 2. Eldror earns his wings that season. Reith poisons his mind afterward, planting the belief that Hilfiger is a saint, and Eldror can't tell an installed thought from his own. In Season 3 he uses the Atrius provision to have his brother declared insane and caged in his chambers. He regrets it. In Wings he brings the shield down beside Hilfiger's head instead of through it, says "go north, be free," and then flies, free for a few seconds before a Dawner strikes him down. Wings is the saga's proof that free will is real and guarantees nothing, and his death is the wall the first half is built on.
