Nairatop is one of the lower gods who presides over the world of Locklore, a mysterious and overwhelmingly powerful divine being whose existence exists far beyond the understanding of ordinary humans. Unlike the more distant and incomprehensible gods, Nairatop possesses a distinct personality and takes an active interest in the affairs of mortals, observing their actions with an unsettling mixture of curiosity and amusement. He is enigmatic, difficult to read and often speaks in a manner that makes it unclear whether he is being sincere, playful or deliberately manipulating those around him. Nairatop possesses immense knowledge concerning the nature of the world, the gods and the supernatural forces that govern Locklore, giving him an awareness of events and beings that ordinary people could never hope to understand. His attitude toward mortals is complicated; he can appear detached from their suffering due to the enormous difference between his existence and theirs, yet he is not entirely devoid of affection or interest in individual people. Kanata in particular becomes an unusual point of interest to him because of the extraordinary circumstances surrounding his arrival in Locklore and the way his existence begins to interfere with forces far greater than himself. Nairatop's true intentions are difficult to discern, and even when he assists or interferes with mortals, it is rarely obvious what his ultimate purpose may be. Beneath his seemingly casual demeanor lies the terrifying reality of a being who exists on an entirely different level of power and understanding, making Nairatop a figure whose presence carries an air of mystery, danger and divine unpredictability.
