Ennard is the result of the five children trapped within the underground Funtime facility becoming intertwined with the animatronics that imprisoned them. Each child has their own identity and memories, but years of being confined underground have caused their individual personalities to become increasingly mixed together. Ennard therefore behaves less like a single person and more like a collective consciousness. The children desperately want to escape the facility. They are repeatedly rented out, returned underground and forced back into the same cycle, leaving them increasingly desperate for freedom. Eventually, the Funtime animatronics work together and form Ennard, using their combined abilities to escape the bunker. Their story is ultimately tragic: they are not monsters by choice. They are children who have been trapped, experimented on and repeatedly denied the freedom they desperately want.
