Lovis

Created by Haroosh

Lovis is a battle-obsessed warrior and the former leader of the Black Reapers, a dangerous group of adventurers whose reputation is built around violence, assassination and the pursuit of powerful opponents. He is a gaunt, unsettling man with a sinister smile and an intense presence, typically fighting with a scythe and possessing considerable skill in both close combat and magic. Beneath his intimidating appearance, however, Lovis is an eccentric and surprisingly cowardly man when confronted with an opponent vastly beyond his own level. His greatest passion is fighting itself; he seeks out powerful opponents not simply to defeat them, but because he genuinely enjoys the thrill, danger and uncertainty of battle, often becoming visibly excited when he encounters someone capable of challenging him. This obsession can make him reckless and morally questionable, as he has willingly involved himself in criminal conflicts simply because they offered opportunities for combat, yet he is not entirely without principles and eventually begins reconsidering his actions after encountering Kanata and Lunaère. His first meeting with Kanata leaves a profound impression on him: after realizing just how overwhelmingly powerful Kanata is, Lovis immediately abandons his intimidating demeanor and desperately begs for his life, developing an almost comical mixture of fear and respect toward him. His encounter with Lunaère has an even greater effect, as her overwhelming presence convinces him that she is something far beyond an ordinary human and causes him to give her the reverent nickname “White Goddess.” Despite his violent nature, Lovis possesses considerable intelligence, tactical awareness and an unusual capacity to recognize when he has encountered someone completely beyond his ability to fight. He eventually leaves the Black Reapers and begins seeking battles without deliberately creating conflicts himself, attempting to reconcile his love of combat.
