Djamel Belmadi is a former Algerian international midfielder who played for Paris Saint-Germain, Martigues, Marseille, Celta Vigo, Manchester City, Al-Ittihad, Al-Kharaitiyat, Southampton and Valenciennes. He made 20 appearances for Algeria and scored 5 goals, and was named Algerian Footballer of the Year in 2001, One of his most iconic moments is the free-kick he scored against goalkeeper Barthez during the match between Algeria and France. As a coach, he led Algeria to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations title, ending a 29-year wait for the trophy. He also won several domestic titles with Al-Duhail and the 2014 Gulf Cup with Qatar.
